ScratchMyBackRecords

ScracthMyBackRecords is a small DIY label operated by Christos Fanaras (aka Jack Shirt) from his North London flat. The label was set up in January 2008 as a facilitator for Jack Shirt’s self titled debut album release, a limited CDR edition of initially 30 copies. SMBR stockists so far are Rough Trade, Norman Records and Lik Neon.

Music Ethic

Taking into consideration the easy and cheap availability of home recording technology and the free accessibility and exposure to diverse music genres via the internet, SMBR has embraced the unfiltered, unassuming, effortless and idiosyncratic approach to music making, and an aesthetic that incorporates both high and low brow influences with the same disposition. While inclined towards the experimental and unconventional there is also a strong need for an expression of a pop sensibility that borrows shamelessly and thus is constantly changing.
